WOVU 95.9 FM is Cleveland’s Urban Alternative — a vibrant community radio station where culture, creativity, and conversation meet. We amplify the voices of our city with a bold blend of alternative hip hop, alternative and modern R&B, soul, neo-soul, 90s hip hop and R&B classics, and inspirational hip hop and R&B, reflecting the spirit and sound of Cleveland like no one else.

WOVU 95.9 FM is licensed, owned, and operated by Burten, Bell, Carr Development, Inc., a nonprofit community development organization serving Cleveland’s Central neighborhood and surrounding areas. First Class Broadcasting provides production and administrative support to help advance WOVU’s mission of empowering local voices and strengthening the community.

As a noncommercial, nonprofit station, WOVU provides a platform for authentic storytelling, meaningful dialogue, and creative expression. Our lineup features some of the region’s most respected voices — from celebrated DJs and community leaders to emerging artists and changemakers.
